HILLSBORO, NH: On Friday, October 14th, 2022, Nancy Carter Colony peacefully passed away with her daughter, brother, and sister by her side.
Nancy was born on Labor Day, 1949 in Boston to John K. and Margaret (Carter) Colony. She was raised in Winchester, MA, and in 1976 she made Hillsboro, NH her home. There, she raised her daughter and worked as an LNA for area facilities as well as doing home care. When she retired in 2010, she embarked on her long-awaited adventure of driving across the country on historic Route 66.
Her passions included anything mystery and true crime. She also loved visiting haunted locations and was thrilled by ghost hunting shows. Nancy’s favorite travel destinations included Disney World and Alaska, both of which she visited numerous times.
Nancy had a cutting wit which will be missed by those who knew her.
Nancy was predeceased by her parents. She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer and husband, Michael Barrett of Hillsboro and their children, Dylan of Henniker and Devin of Hillsboro. She is also survived by her brother, John Colony of Sugar Hill, NH and sister, Jane and husband, Laszlo Potyondy of Hopkinton, NH and their children, Kai Potyondy of Renton, WA and Peter Potyondy of Budapest, Hungary.
Per her request, burial will be private.
Nancy loved and cared for cats throughout her lifetime and supported the local humane society. For those who wish, you are welcome to make a donation to the humane society of your choice in her name.
