HILLSBORO, NH: Roberta "Chris" McNamara, 89, of Hillsboro, also known as "Bobbie" to friends and family, passed on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 with family by her side.
Born Roberta Jean Christie on June 12, 1928 in Dalton, NH to Robert and Betsey Christie, "Bobbie" as she was known then, graduated from Littleton High School, Class of 1946.
She earned her Bachelors in Education from Plymouth Teachers College and became an elementary school teacher, later teaching Special Education.
Chris lived in the historic Concord End of Hillsboro from 1961 until 2010 when she moved to Portsmouth to be close to her family.
Chris was predeceased by John McNamara in 1976. She is survived by her sister, Julia Perkins of Belmont; her daughter and husband, Pam and Mike Caswell of Antrim; daughter, Kim McNamara of Greenland; son, John "Mike" McNamara of Greenland; granddaughter, husband and great-granddaughter, Jennifer (McInnis), Chris and Collette McIverson of Long Beach, CA; grandson, Michael "Micky" McInnis of Portsmouth; granddaughter and husband, Emma (Mellen) and Milo Mayberry of Greenland; granddaughter and husband, Katherine (Mellen) and Tyler Bangert of North Berwick, ME; and a large extended family.
Chris was lovingly cared for by the angels at The Edgewood Center in Portsmouth.
A service will be held Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at 11 am in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Church St, Hillsboro, NH.
The Holt-Woodbury Funeral Home & Cremation Service Hillsboro, NH is assisting the family.
Chris had a compassionate heart for persons with developmental disabilities.
