DEERING, NH: Judith May (Jarvis) Wood, passed away Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at the age of 77. Judy courageously battled COPD, heart disease and lung cancer for many years.
Judy was born April 19, 1941 in Cleveland, Ohio, the daughter of Charles and Ruth (Carlson) Jarvis. The family later moved to Scituate, MA, one of Judy's favorite places.
Judy graduated from Scituate High School and attended Northeastern University. Later in life she earned her Associate Degree in Special Education. Judy's was a housewife and mother of four children for over 25 years. She later worked at the Hampstead School District, Yankee Book Peddler, Hillsboro-Deering High School as a Special Education Teacher's Aide and as Librarian in Hillsboro and in Deering.
Judy is survived by her husband, James Wood, mother, Ruth Jarvis, both of Deering, NH, and four children from her previous marriage to E. Bruce Gallagher; Lora Gallagher-Smith of South Bend, IN, Matthew Gallagher of Collegeville, PA, Nancy Gallagher of Center Barnstead, NH and Julie Mento of Warner, NH, seven grandchildren, a brother, Eric Jarvis of Deering, NH and a sister, Sally Sutter of Hull, MA, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Judy most recently enjoyed daily rides through the NH countryside with her husband. She enjoyed many interests including cooking (especially lasagna), sailing, reading, raising donations for local charities, lighthouses, and the ocean.
Calling hours will be held Saturday, February 16, 2019 from 5 to 7 pm in the Holt-Woodbury Funeral Home, 32 School St, Hillsboro, NH.
