HENNIKER, NH: Arthur W. Butler, Jr. of Henniker, NH went to be with his Lord and Savior on November 16, 2022. Dear friends and neighbors, Bruce and Mary Whittier, opened their home for Art's hospice care where he enjoyed the company of friends and family in the days preceding his passing.
Artie was the only child of Arthur W. Butler, Sr. and Mildred Louise (Magoon) Butler, born on September 9, 1953 in Portsmouth, NH.
He graduated from Henniker High School in 1971. He worked for a time in the toy department at JM Fields, but his passion was mechanics. He enjoyed snowmobiles, motorcycles and cars. Artie co-founded the drift riders snowmobile club, holding meetings in his parents barn.
He worked many years for Prentiss Snowmobile & Service Station before taking his mechanics skills to New England College where he retired.
He was a devoted Christian and attended services for many years at First Baptist Church in Concord. Art loved God and people and there was never a cross word heard from his mouth. He was genuine and had a generous and good hearted nature, a was a caring and gentle soul. He touched many lives in his community just by being himself, more than he ever realized. He was humble and kind and his entire life was a witness to Christ-like love.
Artie is survived by his wife, Doris Sloatman Butler and daughter, Michelle "Misty" Diana Schliesman (Eric). He was preceeded in death by his wife Crolla Diana Lanfair Butler and his parents, Mildred Butler and Arthur Butler, Sr.
Calling hours will be held Monday, November 21, 2022 from 10 am to 11 am. Services will begin at 11 am in the Holt-Woodbury Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 32 School St, Hillsboro, NH.
Burial will follow in Henniker New Cemetery in Henniker, NH.
