HILLSBORO, NH:  Joseph R. Panarello, 70, of Hillsboro, NH, passed away on July 18, 2022 in his home with his longtime partner, Theresa Vota. Joe was born in Winthrop, Massachusetts on October 16, 1951. 

Joe graduated from Saugus High School in Saugus, Massachusetts. Later he moved to New Hampshire, where he graduated from New England College in Henniker. 

He was predeceased by his father, Joseph J. Panarello, his mother ,Gloria L. (Covino) Panarello and his sister, Lynne Panarello.

Joe was the Unit Director of Medical and Forensics Services at the New Hampshire Department of Corrections for most of his career. For the remainder of his career he was the supervisor at the Belknap County Department of Corrections until his retirement. 

Joe was an avid outdoorsman who frequented a number of hiking and cross-country skiing trails, Fox State Forest and Pillsbury State Park were among his favorites. He kept daily journals and recordings of all of his outdoor excursions. He enjoyed spending time at his camp in Washington with his dog, Roxie. Joe loved collecting and selling antiques, chinaware and vintage bottles in particular. Joe was an amazing baker, everyone was always impressed by his bread, Cinnamon Raisin and Sourdough were among family favorites. He was always known for his pie-making skills, especially during the holiday season. Joe was an outspoken and loving man who cared deeply for his family and friends.

He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Randall and her husband, Frank Randall, and their children, Abigail and Jackson Randall of New Hampshire, his step-daughter, Heidi Labate and her husband, Jonathan Labate and their children, Ruby and Sylvie Labate of Vermont, his sister, Gail Smith, her husband, David Smith, and their children, David Smith, Jr. and Christine Russell of North Carolina. He was also survived by many other family members and friends. 

The family will be holding a memorial service in early September to honor his life and memory.
