Funeral home in Hillsborough, NH

HILLSBORO, NH:  Judith (Judy) Elaine Cate (Ouellet), of Hillsboro, NH was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She went home to be with the Lord on August 13, 2022.

She was born to Anthony and Susan Ouellet (Morse) on July 7, 1942 in Amesbury, Massachusetts.  After attending Burdett College, Judy worked at Towle Silversmiths as a marketer.  Later in life, she worked as a lamp maker at Frameworks and Osram Sylvania in Hillsboro.

During the summers of her youth, she could be found at the family vacation cottage on Highland Lake in Washington, NH, which eventually introduced her to her husband, Frank Peter Cate of Hillsboro, NH.   Together, they had two children, Jason and Patrick, and made a life in their Hillsboro Upper Village home.

Judy loved to travel and enjoyed family trips to the White Mountains every summer and when the family grew with grandchildren, trips to Disney and to the Southwick Zoo were her favorites.  She loved a good flea market, enjoyed the company of others, and absolutely adored her grandchildren, Justin, Austin, Elizabeth, and Patricia Cate.

Judy leaves behind her husband of 57 years, Frank “Pete” Cate, her son, Jason, their children’s mother Amy, Patrick and his wife Sarah, four grandchildren and a faithful dog named Beau. She also leaves behind cousins, Betty Currier of South Hampton, NH and Debbie Pierce of NH, with whom she shared a sister-like bond. Friends were family to Judy and she will also be missed by Janice Houghton and family, and “Buzzy” and Shirley Cilley of Windsor, NH.  She was predeceased by her parents, in-laws Elmer and Theodora Cate (Gagnon), two sisters-in-laws, a brother-in-law and two siblings (boys) who died at birth.  She also leaves behind many other cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends, all of whom she loved.

A Celebration of Life service is scheduled for Saturday, August 27, 2022 at 11 am at the Hillsboro Methodist Church in her adopted and loved hometown of Hillsboro, NH. There will be a graveside service following.

The Holt-Woodbury Funeral Home & Cremation Service Hillsboro, NH is assisting the family.
