Pauline E. Simkin

HENNIKER & BOW, NH:  Pauline Mortimer-Simkin died on Wednesday, January 8, 2020 with loving husband by her side. She was from both Henniker and Bow, NH will be missed by many.  

Pauline was born in Malden, MA on May 29, 1934 to the late Eugene and Florence (Costa) Baldi. 

She was a loving and supportive wife, mother and grandmother. Survived by her husband, Terrance Simkin, daughter, Pamela Seddon, granddaughters, Allyson and Heidi Eisenberg, brother, Gene Baldi and sister, Florance Wall.  She was predeceased by her son, William Mortimer, first husband, George Mortimer and brother, Edward Baldi. 

Pauline loved to be active. She square danced since 1982, with Concord Coach and Bradford Country Squares.  She was a member of the Appalachian Mountain Club and the New Hampshire 4000 Foot Club – climbing 48 mountains, some several times.  She loved tennis, bowling, bicycling, kayaking and backpacking. She skied both downhill and cross country and was a member of the Concord's Always an Adventure Club.  She volunteered as an usher and house manager for the Concord Center of the Arts and was a participant for many years in the 50 Plus Exercise Group at Bow Community Center.  

Paul drove more than 25 times across the USA and Canada by motorcycle, car and camper. 

Her foreign travel included: Egypt, Russia, Finland, Spain, Portugal, Greece, Morocco, Turkey, France, Germany, England, and Peru (including the headwaters of the Amazon.)  

While living in Henniker, Pauline was a Girl Scout Leader, President of the Henniker Mother’s Club, chaperon to the Henniker High School Outing Club and co-leader of Henniker Village Folk Dancers (and was selected to take the Henniker group to Tennessee competitions).  She was also a Trustee of the Tucker Free Library in Henniker; she loved reading. 

Pauline met her husband, Terrance Simkin, while assisting the Engineering Foundation from New York.   She worked for the Engineering Foundation several summers in New Hampshire, Florida and California. 

She was secretary to one of the Presidents of New England College and worked in customer service and the Trust Department of the former Bank of New Hampshire (now TD Bank) before retiring. 

A Celebration of Life for Pauline Mortimer-Simkin will take place at the home of her daughter, Pamela, on May 9, 2020 at 12;30 pm, immediately following a Graveside Service at the Henniker Cemetery on Old Concord Road at 11 am.  All are welcome. 

The Holt-Woodbury Funeral Home & Cremation Service Henniker, NH is assisting the family.
