DEERING, NH:  It is with great sadness that the family of Jacqueline Sharon Hemenway announce her passing peacefully in her home on October 25th 2019, after her long battle with cancer.            

Born to Blanche Gagne of Rochester NH, she was raised by Blanche and her stepfather Everett. In December of 1959, she married her best friend Rodney C. Hemenway.   Jackie spent her life devoted to Rod and their four children. She always provided a safe and happy home for family and anyone in need. She was a living example of unconditional love and kindness, a true earth angel. Outstretching her arms, always ready for a hug. She was predeceased by her husband, Rodney C. Hemenway, in August of 1994 and her sister, Bertha Bishop, in 2019. 

Jackie was very devoted to her faith as she regularly attented services at Saint Mary’s Church in Hillsboro, NH. She loved attending Bilble Study to learn all she could about the Lord she loved. 

One of Jackie’s favorite activities was traveling to Maine every summer with her granddaughter, Harley Hemenway, where they would stay with her beloved sister, Bertha, and brother-in-law, Barry. Her days in Maine were filled with visiting family and all her dear friends. She loved traveling with Bertha and Barry. They would ofter visit the Amish Country and spent time at Moose Head Lake where she had many wonderful memories. 

Jackie's time at home was often spent crochetting or getting lost in one of her many books. She was known as 'Mammy' to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as extended family and friends. She loved seeing her grandchildren and would always light up when they entered the room. She was always ready to listen and dispense her unconditional love and wisdom. 

Jackie worked at GTE Sylvania before retiring in 1999.  She was predeceased by her husband, Rodney C. Hemenway, in August of 1994 and her sister, Bertha Bishop in 2019. 

She is surrived by her children, Rodney C. Hemenway, Jr. and Terri Hemenway of Deering, Joanne Russell of Greenfield, Judy and Tim Mitchelll of Hillsboro and Mary Ellen (Dolly) Bumford and Bob Bumford of Lebanon, Maine.  She is also surrived by her eight grandchildren and her nine great-grandchildren who were the light of her life. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, November 9, 2019 at 11 am in St. Mary’s Church Hillsboro, NH.  Burial will follow in Wilkins Cemetery in Deering, NH. 

The Holt-Woodbury Funeral Home & Cremation Service is assisting the family. 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the Hospice House in Concord, NH or St. Mary’s Church in Hillsboro, NH.
