Katherine L. Butler

HILLSBORO, NH:  With deep sadness we announce the passing of our beloved Mom, Katherine Louise (Ryley) Butler on Sunday morning, February 24th, 2019 at Presidential Oaks in Concord, NH where she resided for the past seven months.

She was born October 29, 1931 in Hillsboro to Malcolm and Florence (Gould) Ryley.  She married Lawrence "Red" Butler on November 27, 1948 and they made Hillsboro their home, where they raised their five children and opened their doors and dinner table to many more.

Katherine was predeceased by her parents, her husband in 1992, her siblings, Marion Colby (Ernie), Maurice Ryley (Marie), Fletcher "Pat" Ryley (Arlene), Leonard Ryley (Marjorie), Dottie Hammer (Marvin), Alice Anderson (Roger), sisters-in-law, Doris Laughlin (Bill) and Mary Butler, brother-in-law, Arthur Butler (Mildred), and a granddaughter, Shannon Marie Butler.

She is survived by her brother, Lloyd Ryley (Pat) of Tilton, brothers-in-law, Roy Butler of Henniker, Alan Butler (Cheryl) of Deering, George Butler (Pat) of Weare, her five children, Malcolm Butler of Hillsboro, Sally Jones (Pam) of Hudson, Nancy Davison (Mo) of Henniker, Ernie Butler (Pam) of Hillsboro, Maurice Butler (Rebecca) of Antrim, 20 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren with more on the way, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Katherine worked for many years at Sylvania, Peterborough Ball Bearing and Sears Roebuck in Concord. Family and friends kept her going, whether it was Easter gatherings, birthday parties, sibling dinners, daily chats, weddings, or a new grandchild to hold.  She completed countless search-a-word books and her friendships at Maple Leaf were a blessing.  Easy to talk to, she and her roommate at Presidential Oaks formed a very dear friendship.  She also found a new form of fun there, playing BINGO and raking in the bucks!

The family would like to thank her friend, Beverly Bannister for years of friendship to Katherine and support to the family with keeping an eye on her.  We would also like to thank the staff at Presidential Oaks for their care and support and patience, and a special thank you to Nicky for holding Mom's hand while she waited for us.

A celebration of her life will be held on March 16th, at 1:00 at the American Legion Hall in Hillsboro.

The Holt-Woodbury Funeral Home & Cremation Service Hillsboro, NH is assisting the family.
