DEERING, NH: Duane Delmar Gerbert, 92, of Deering, NH died Monday June 4, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family and caregivers.
He was born in Hillsboro, NH on January 4, 1926 to the late Albert and Evelyn (Spaulding) Gerbert. Duane was also predeceased by his wife, Dorothy E. (Champagne) Gerbert who died in 1994, a grandson, Joshua Gerbert, and two brothers, Everett “Red” Gerbert and Reginald Gerbert, Sr.
Duane worked for many years as a Cabinet Maker at Gates Inc., in Peterborough, NH before his retirement.
He was a Navy Veteran during WWII serving on the USS Monterey.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 59 Hillsboro, NH, VFW past member, Volunteer Fire Fighter in Deering, NH, and was an avid horseshoe player at the Legion, playing in many tournaments, he also joined the bowling league at Boutwells in Concord, NH, was an avid Red Sox Fan and loved cribbage and pool.
Survived by his two sons, Gary and his wife Beth Gerbert of Cumberland Furnace, TN, Craig and his wife Brandi Gerbert of Duncannon, PA, two daughters, Diane Armon of Willits, CA and Karen and her husband William Bumford of Henniker, NH, 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Friday, June 8, 2018 at 10 am in the Holt-Woodbury Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 32 School St Hillsboro, NH.
Burial will follow in Maple Avenue Cemetery Hillsboro, NH.
