Arthur R. Levine

BRADFORD, NH: Arthur Robert Levine, 86, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at his home in Bradford, New Hampshire. 

Arthur was born in New Haven, Connecticut and spent much of his life there before retiring and moving to Bradford to live with his son’s family. 

He served two years in the U.S. Army in the 1950s, and was stationed in Germany. He later attended the University of Connecticut. Before he retired, Arthur was a U.S. Treasury Agent. 

A man of many hobbies and intellectual pursuits, Arthur was an avid bridge player, chess player, and fisherman. Until his early 80s he would frequently take his boat out on Blaisdell Lake and fish. He was very proud of his book collection, counting many first editions, from which he would share passages that were special to him with family and close friends. He was also known among those close to him for his stunning vocabulary. 

He was predeceased by his first wife Joan Levine (Alexander), and by his beloved grandson Danny. Family was at his bedside when he passed. He is survived by his two children David Levine of Bradford, New Hampshire and his daughter Lynn Levine of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. He is also survived by his daughter-in-law Wendy Churchill Levine, his granddaughter Sarah Levine Brannigan, her husband Carl, and two great-grandchildren Lydia and Levi. 

In accordance with his wishes, no memorial service is planned. 

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Arthur’s memory can be made to the Lake Sunapee Region Visiting Nurses Association Hospice program or to the American Cancer Society.
