HILLSBORO, NH: Kathleen White Eckberg, 83, of Hillsboro Upper Village died on December 10, 2017. Kathy and her identical twin Cynthia, were born in Waltham, MA to Harold and Dorothy White. Kathy and Cynthia attended U Mass Amherst, where their father was a professor.
At U Mass, Kathy met the love of her life Robert Eckberg. Kathy and Bob married in 1953 and together raised three wonderful children. In 1978, Kathy and Bob relocated to Hillsboro.
Kathy loved tending her gardens of flowers and berries. She was a baker of breads and pies and delighted in the birds at her feeders. A member of the Yankee Bottle Club, Kathy appreciated history through glass and volunteered at the Club’s annual show for many years. Kathy had an active mind and delighted in playing bridge with neighbors and reading a good mystery novel. Kathy especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends throughout her life.
After caring for Bob through his end of life and death on August 26, 2017, Kathy’s health declined. Kathy was also predeceased by her sisters Annette MacLachlan and Nancy Hillenbrand.
Kathy is survived by her sister Cynthia George and husband Don George of Amherst, MA, daughter Susan Eckberg Reid and husband Jonathan of Arundel, ME, son Stephen and wife Laura Marron of Contoocook, and son Peter and partner Marcia Brier of Miller Place, NY. Kathy leaves behind her beloved grandchildren Alexander and Margaret Reid, Lillian Eckberg, and Caroline and Catherine Eckberg.
The family is grateful for support from the Concord Regional VNA home visitors, the staff at Pleasant View TCU and the CRVNA hospice team.
A gathering for family and friends will be held when the daffodils are in bloom.
